December 2006 bean offer
Dec 9
Apologies for the delay in sharing this information.
We have two beans on offer for December – but the caveat is that we have not been able to sample either of these ourselves. We are taking them strictly on the recommendation of our supplier’s chief taster/buyer.
Details are very limited at time of writing, but I should have more to tell very soon.
Indonesian Sumatran Mandheling ‘Blue Batak’
This is a high grade, ultra clean, wet processed Sumatran. Blue colour, large beans, it also offers the very typical cup characteristics of Mandheling, good body and flavour as well as fine acidity.
From our supplier/taster “a stunningly aromatic cup, with a distinctive bergamot aroma, bright acidity, and full body.”
$8.60 per kg.
East Timor Organic.
Not certain if this is Fair Trade or not at this stage, but a good chance it is. It is certainly a certified organic bean.
Although East Timor was once part of Indonesia, and shares much of the climate and geological features of that nation, Timor coffee is not a funky, earthy coffee like Sumatra and Sulawesi; it has a cleaner cup profile more like a Java.
More information, including price very soon.
Even though we have not sampled these beans, I’m very confident in the recommendation.
Supply
Supplies of these beans are not yet in the warehouse, but expected “around mid December”, so this offer (to go live 8:00pm Thursday December 14th) will be delivered when supplies are available.
January offer
Note that there will not be a January offer, due to holidays and me moving house.
