January-February 2007 Offer

We trust everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season.
Just a reminder that there will not be a January bean offer as such, and the next offer is scheduled for around mid February.
What is the February offer likely to be?
We can probably tell you a bit more in a week or two after a trip to the wholesalers for some samples to roast up.
In the meantime, a warm welcome to the numerous new members who have recently joined – don’t forget the forum for some chat and coffee sharing.
The Blue Batak offer will remain open until either all sold or the next offer rolls around.
Two things I’ve tried and enjoyed with this bean:
- Roast level. This bean works really well if you short it short of second crack. It takes on a sweetness that is lost once second crack kicks in. I also suggest a minimum two day rest before drinking.
- Blending. Generally a high grade bean like this is drunk as an SO, but I threw in some of the Fair Trade Ethiopian Harar in roughly a 50/50 mix and was very pleased with the result!
The fruity/chocolate notes of the Harar complement the Blue Batak nice nicely indeed.
On that note: those who have any of that fantastic Harar left – enjoy it while it lasts. The new crop of Harar’s are not looking very promising… :-(
