In the world of speciality coffee, decaf always seems to cop a serve. Seems like it’s always regarded as substandard, and just not taken seriously.
Having tasted some decafs I can understand the bad rap that they get (but then there are lots of really bad non-decaf beans too…).
But if we are serious about being in this game for the ‘taste and not the buzz’ (to quote Mark Prince of Coffeegeek.com)
