Just a heads up on the next offer everyone:

There’s a pile of high quality Central American beans just landed or about to, and we plan pick a couple from this list.

Here’s a load of the leading contenders:

  • Guatemala Tres Marias Huehuetenango
  • Guatemala Organic La Quebrada
  • Guatemala Genuine Antigua Los Volcanes
  • Guatemala SHB RFA Nueva Granada EP
  • Mexican SHG Organic Estate “El Olivo”
  • Honduras SHG Organic La Labor
  • El Salvador SHG Santa Elena Estate

Some origin notes on a couple of them from our wholesaler buyer:

Mexican Organic “El Olivo” “This coffee is grown near the famous town of Pluma Hidalgo in the state of Oaxaca. 100% sundried, 100% Typica variety. We find it a complex, mellow/balanced coffee with medium acidity and mild finish. El Olivo is one of last intact (medium sized) farms (aprox 100 ha’s under production). Most of the coffee grown in the Pluma region is from very small farms (say 2 – 4 ha’s). Hence, El Olivo, being a “large” Pluma farm is quite an exclusive coffee we can offer. The finca owner, Don Arturo Lujan, has been a supplier of BECAFISA for many years. He delivers the green coffee to our mill in Pochutla/Oaxaca.”

Honduras SHG Organic La Labor A gourmet coffee produced by small farmers at more than 1200 metres above sea level. All coffee is shade grown with such varieties as catuai, typica and bourbon the most popular. Cherries are processed in one mill that has Organic Certification. Famous for producing very small quantities with distinctive cup character, predominantly caramel and chocolately flavours.
